BEGINNER COURSE Curated By Mrs. Priyanka Athaley
(2 YEARS) – 1ST YEAR
Duration – 2 years – Twice a week – 1 hour per session
(First Year syllabus)

Theory
1) Definitions – Nrutya, Classical Dance, Bharatnatyam, Aramandi, Namaskar,
Adavu, Laghu, Drut, Anudrut, Lay.
2) Names of fingers.
3) Name and Birthplaces of Indian Classical Dances.
4) Hasta Mudra.
5) Karnaataki Taal Jaati – Tishra, Chatushra, Khanda, Mishra, Sankirna – with bol.
6) 28 Asanyukta hasta mudra with Shlokam.
7) Viniyog with Shlokam of first 5 Asanyukta Hasta Mudra.

Practical
1) Flexibility exercises – Jumps, Mandi jumps, Stretching, Half sitting, Full sitting, Side sitting, Movement of the neck, eyes, eyebrow, cheeks, Chakrasana, Payaasan.
2) Namaskriya Shlokam (Angikam Bhuvanam…) – with padanyas and bhaav.
3) Naatyakramah Shlokam (Yaato Hastah…).
4) Demonstrate Jaatis of Karnaataki Taal.
5) Demonstrate Adavus in 3 lays and also demonstrate by clapping.
6) Demonstrate 28 Asanyukta Hasta Mudras with Shlokam.
7) Demonstrate Viniyogas (uses) with of first 5 mudras with Shlokam.

Fees Structure
1st year – Rs.16,000/- per year – Rs.2,000/- per Month (For Indians)

Second Year syllabus
Theory
1) Introduction to 6 Anga of Karnaataki Taal.
2) 7 types of Karnaataki Taal.
3) Further Adavus.
4) Aadi Taal.
5) Importance of Ghungroo/Selangor.
6) Asanyuka Hasta Mudra Viniyogas.
7) Alaripu and Jatiswaram.
8) Knowledge about Guru, Dance style, and Institution.

Practical
1) Hasta Prachaar – Uttaan, Vartula, Trayashra, Sthita, Adhomukh.
2) Paad bhed – Udghatita, Sama, Agratala Sanchar, Anchit, Kunchit, Suchi.
3) Further Adavus to demonstrate with the clap.
4) Demonstrate Karnaataki Taal.
5) Aadi Taal.
6) Asanyukta Hasta Mudra viniyogas.
7) Alaripu and Jatiswaram – Demonstrate and perform.
